Solar PV

What Is Solar PV Also known as Solar Photovoltaic solar PV generates electricity from either direct or indirect sunlight. We can use this electricity to run household appliances lighting or even charge your electric vehicle.

A solar PV system main components generally consist of a mounting frame, solar Pv panels and an inverter. The solar panels attach to the mounting frame which in turn is connected to a roof structure or ground. The solar panels then connect to the inverter by cables, the inverter then changes the direct current (DC: the electric found in batteries) into Alternating current (AC: the electric that comes from the main grid to your property) then the alternating current goes through a cable connected from your inverter to your mains electric allowing you to use.

The benefits of solar electricity

Cut your electricity bills. Sunlight is free, so once you've paid for the initial installation, your electricity costs will be reduced.

Cut your carbon footprint. Solar electricity is green renewable energy and doesn't release any harmful carbon dioxide or other pollutants. A typical home solar PV system could save around 1.3 to 1.6 tonnes of carbon per year (depending where you are within the UK).

Maintenance. Solar panels should be kept relatively clean a watchful eye on growing trees not to shadow the panels. Solar panels last 25 years plus a good quality inverter will come with a warranty to match you may have to replace the inverter in a 25 year period.

Energy storage. Energy storage systems, also known as batteries, allow you to capture heat or electricity when it is readily available, and save it until a time when it is useful to you.

Battery Storage

Battery storage allows you to capture excess energy produced by your solar system.

Usually, your solar system will generate more power than your home will require by installing a battery system you can capture this excess energy in the forms of electricity and or heat energy.

Electric battery. Solar PV generates electricity, the electric you don't use then gets stored in electric batteries. When the sun go's down you are then able to use this stored energy to power your TV, lights, appliances and more.

Heat battery. Although solar PV generates electricity, we can take this electricity and store it as heat energy. You can use this heat energy by running the hot water tap, eg showers and baths or we can use this heat to heat your central heating. Read More
